On the final episode a lot of things happen, but I will only discuss the death of Lelouch and ignore everything else about the ending to limit the spoilage =O.  Ive searched the web after watching the ending, desperately searching for a forum so I can voice my opinion about the-in my opinion-masterful ending of the show (this was before I created this blog).  On my cruising I noticed multiple comments on whether Lulu was actualy dead at the very end.  Some said that he took the emperors Code after he was touched by him in CC’s world.  If he did take the emperor’s (VV’s) code than he would become immortal after dying for the first time; which would mean that Lelouch came back to life sometime after his death (Note that it took the emperor several minutes for the emperor the come back to life).  Others mention that CC looks to the side and says Lulu’s name when she is riding on the carriage at the very end of the episode.  I have this simple point to make:

In the fight between Lulouch’s Britania and Prince Schneizel+The Black Knights,  Lulouch’s ship (which I can’t remember the name of) is invaded and Lulouch abandons ship.  He eventually reaches the hanger where his Knighmare is.  He meets CC who has returned from combat in her pink Knightmare (…) and they talk about blah…blah…blah.   Kallen eventually breaks through the hanger in the Guren and CC saves Lulu from being shot.

All that unimportant mess was leading to this:  CC tells Lelouch before he leaves that she will smile only when he returns. WHEW!!!

Well, in the final episode in the last 15 seconds when CC is in the cariege full of hay she smiles at the very last seconds.  I believe this could mean that Lulouch is with her physicaly OR spiritualy.  You decide, I’m just pointing out that bit  of information…

I am sure that many of you remember the good old days of Adult Swim and the Saturday program Toonami on CartoonNetwork.  Back in those days-no older than 10 years ago-Saturday from about 6pm to 6am Sunday morning was nothing but anime goodness.  Slowly, however, the amount of anime slowly declined over the months.  You can’t blame the Toonami program, because it has to appeal to it’s entire audience in one days programing, but Adult Swim has no excuses because it runs all week.

They didn’t immediately remove anime, oh no, they slowly shift it to later and later slots.  At first it was just randomly changing long running shows like Inuyasha and Full Metal Alchemist and sticking a Robot Chicken in their place.  Don’t get me wrong; I love Robot Chicken, but then they shift the first anime show to 12:00, then 12:30 and fill the spots with shows that come on EVERY WEEKDAY!

As I said before, I may be in the minority, but until very recently my only gate to anime was Adult Swim.  I say those who can feel my pain should rally together and bombard the Adult Swim forums to bring back the good old days of all night anime fests on Saturdays!  If not for this generation, then for the next.  For all those 11 year olds who can’t stay up to 1:00 in the morning and have nothing to look forward to but Yu-Gi-Oh and old DragonBall repeats.

1.   Death Note: Death Note (デスノート ,Desu Nōto^?) created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. The series centers on Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook, the titular “Death Note”, dropped on Earth by a shinigami (death god) named Ryuk. The Death Note grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose face they have seen, by writing the victim’s name in the notebook. The story follows Light’s attempt to create and rule a world cleansed of evil using the notebook, and the complex conflict between him, his opponents and L.   This series is like watching an extremely exciting game of chess, where the pieces are people and taking a piece involves heartless murder.

This is a VERY good series, there is nothing but tense suspense, and NEVER-ENDING plot twists completely unexpected turn-outs.  Both the manga and the anime are spectacular and there is going to be a live-action film that was to begin in April-2009.  I suggest everyone to think of looking it up and giving it a try.

2.   Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion:

Created by Sunrise, directed by Gorō Taniguchi, and written by Ichirō Ōkouchi, with original character designs by Clamp.  The series is set after Japan’s conquest by the Holy Britannian Empire on August 10, 2010, a.t.b. with their powerful new robot weapons, the Knightmare Frames, stripping Japan and its citizens of all rights and freedoms and renaming the country Area 11. The titular Lelouch is a Britannian prince who gave up his right to the throne after his mother was murdered, and has vowed to destroy his father, the Emperor, and Britannia. He gains the ability through the mysterious power of the Geass, becoming the leader of the resistance movement to fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister Nunnally can live happily.

This series has a similar feel to Death Note but is not as suspense full or ingenious in its design.  It is also very good and full of action.  It has a good bit of emotion in it but is definitely not a shojo (girls manga).  If you watch the series all the way to the finish (50 episodes- 25 per season) you will be rewarded with a great ending.  However, there is now average feelings about this series, you either love it or hate it.

3.   Love Hina:

Written and illustrated by Ken Akamatsu.  The story is a shōnen comedy that takes place in the Kanagawa Prefecture, and centers on Keitaro Urashima and his attempts to fulfill a childhood promise that he made with a girl to enter Tokyo University together. However, he has forgotten the name of the girl he made the promise to and hopes to be accepted into Tokyo university in order to find her. Despite failing the entrance exam twice, he becomes manager of the family owned girls dorm Hinata House (日向荘 ,Hinata Sō^?, also known as Hinata Apartments) and must balance his new responsibilities with his attempts to pass the university entrance exam.

This manga is classified as shonen/comedy because of the ecchi fan service through out.  But the images never pass the mundane (no groinal nudity, no sex, and no nipples) so it is pretty safe to read in company of age 15 and older.  The art is very good (the only problem is that it always leaves you wanting more; if only that well placed cup was three more inches to the left!).  The story and character development is where Love Hina really shines.  It is primarily a comedy but the romantic elements of the series are touching.  By the end of it all you just want Keitaro to go ahead and merry Naru!  This manga is for both genders and will please those looking for ecchi and those looking for a good romantic comedy.
